“Now, we face the choice of a new superintendent — one we aim to retain longer than the couple of years that has become Oakland’s norm and who must be committed to ensuring equity and opportunity in education for all students. Likewise, we’re determined that these conversations will focus on what’s working best for all public school students in Oakland — and stay as far away as possible from politics and ideology.
Our call to everyone who has a stake in our schools — not just parents and teachers, but anyone who cares about our community — is to be part of that.”
