GO Oakland: Educators use crowd-funding to raise money

On Friday, December 16, an article by the East Bay Times highlighted Oakland educators’ crowd-funding efforts to get supplies for their schools and our campaign to match up to $25,000 in donations to DonorsChoose.org projects costing $825 or less at designated “high poverty” Oakland schools.

The site and the requests provide a window into the diversity of undertakings in schools. One teacher wants better speakers so her students can get more from the audio-visual presentations that typically command their full attention, and there’s a request from a high school teacher for materials to help her students design and build speakers.”
