Join us for a Superintendent Search Town Hall meeting on Thursday, January 19, 2017. For a flyer with details about the event, click here.
As you know, the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) officially launched the search for the next Superintendent. At GO Oakland, we believe that a successful selection process is only possible with substantive community involvement. Because of this belief, we have come together with partner organizations to host a town hall event.
The NAACP of Oakland, together with OUSD, City of Oakland, the Unity Council, and GO Oakland, will co-host a forum with School Board President James Harris. The event is next Thursday, January 19 from 6-8 PM at La Escuelita, 1050 2nd Ave, Oakland, CA 94606.
School Board President James Harris will provide a brief statement at the beginning of the event, and then we will break into groups for discussion. Within the discussion groups, we hope to accomplish the following:
- Identify the qualities that will make the next Superintendent successful in Oakland.
- Discuss how to work with and support the Superintendent, especially when we hold different points of view and disagree.
- Provide the School Board with the community’s expectations of them during the transition process.
Food, childcare, and translation services will all be provided.
We hope you are able to join.
