Our neighbors are in crisis. We need you to #GOGive today.
This is a scary and uncertain time for everyone. And for many of our most vulnerable families, it’s also about making the paycheck stretch another day, and surviving another week. Many Oakland families are worried about affording rent and paying for food, utilities, and other basic necessities.
During this crisis, we have a responsibility to come together as a community and show we have each other’s backs.
That’s why today GO is announcing the #GOgive campaign.
#GOgive will provide emergency support to local organizations that are providing immediate relief directly to Oakland families to support their immediate needs.We’ve already raised $50,000 towards this goal and we are actively working to secure more funding.
We’re starting #GOgive with a donation drive to support The Oakland REACH Relief Fund. For the next 72 hours, we’ll be matching donations to double the impact of any donation made by any member of the GO community, like you! Be sure to include #GOgive in the PayPal notes section to ensure that your donation can be matched. Over 85 donors have already contributed!
The Oakland REACH has already started sending out checks to families in need. Here are some responses already received from families:
“Wow, thank you. Going to the grocery store now.” Another shared, “Thank you so much!! This will help my babies so much right now.” The Relief Fund was featured last night on KTVU, where you can see the story of a West Oakland mom whose family has already benefited from the support. In just a week, over 800 families have applied for assistance.
