Why I GO
"Malcolm X famously said, "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare today." I wholeheartedly give my students the educational tools today to prepare them to be OUR leaders for tomorrow."

Why public education?

I am product of Dublin (GA) City Public Schools and also attended a state public university in Georgia. A quality public education is essential to an intelligent and thriving society. I feel that a quality public school system is a right for everyone, despite their race or socioeconomic status.

Favorite quote and why?

“We need in every community a group of angelic troublemakers.” by Bayard Rustin. He is one of my lifelong heroes. The quote speaks volumes to me, because as teachers we are advocates for our students and must sometimes be troublemakers to gain services for our students. If we do not ruffle feathers or deviate from the status quo change can not truly happen! So let’s all become “angelic troublemakers” for our students, schools, and Oakland.

What are your vices?

My vice is mindless entertainment a.k.a. reality TV and traveling the world. Don’t judge me, but I love watching any reality television that takes my mind off the stressful periods in my life. I want to visit all seven continents in the world- anybody ever been to Antarctica?
