As a former Oakland kindergarten teacher who’s now working to increase funding for early childhood supports, I care deeply about how OUSD is managing its limited resources in service of students. To catch up on the latest, last week I attended GO’s Winter Networking Event: Budgeting for Impact, which brought a diverse group of teachers, parents, students, advocates, current and former policymakers, and community members together to delve into the OUSD budget, analyze the root causes and broader context of the on-going challenges, and explore possibilities for a path forward.
